Joy

What are the ideas and dreams you keep putting off? I think 2020 gave us the gift of clarity and urgency. With less distractions were you visited by old desires you never fulfilled, dreams you never fully stepped into, or unfinished passion projects? With a clear reminder of your mortality did you feel the stronger urge to live your beautiful life more intentionally, to be the you-est you you’ve ever been, or to explore ALL your dimensions? This is a loving reminder that everything you put your energy into will create a result. After doing a year review I realized that, aside from motherhood, I was spending a majority of my time prioritizing the things that got me immediate results (usually money), while the things I most wanted to do got whatever was left of my time and attention (usually not much). But the most insightful part was that when I did the things I most wanted to do, the results were more fruitful. I realized my heart’s desires were leading me to seed planting opportunities that would nourish me AND the people around me in longer lasting ways. Pouring a majority of my time and attention into immediate results hoping that someday I’d just magically start to live my dream life was like eating all the fast food, thinking that someday I’d just magically get healthy. I’m here to remind you (and further affirm for myself) that the most efficient way to live your dream is to start living your dream. Trust me, I understand the need to get that check, but the next time you carve some time and space for what you may have viewed as frivolous, know that you are putting something into the ground that will sprout up in the most beautiful and unexpected ways. And then you’ll see for yourself that making time for your joy is the surest way to experience joy. Painting and expressing my inner world gives me joy, so thank you for sharing in that joy with me here.
